Showing is an opportunity for our dedicated riders to show off their skills and progress. We show at fun and relaxed schooling shows and the more experienced and competitive riders travel to rated shows. Our riders mainly show in the jumper ring but we occasionally attend some hunter shows as well as the occasional XC schooling and some dressage/combined training shows.
At Double Take Stables we like to remind our riders that it is not all about winning. It is about self improvement and achieving your goals. We like to come out of the show ring feeling like we had a successful day not because we won but because we put in good rounds, tried our best and made improvements throughout the day. Ribbons are a bonus on top of that.
For 2021 we plan to attend Triton winter jumper series, Sport of horses dressage/combined training, Triangle farm shows, Sedgefield shows and Rosewood schooling jumper shows.
**Must be a regular student to show with us and for rated shows rider must lease or own a horse.**
Missy started taking riders to horse shows in 2013. She herself showed at Sedgefield showgrounds and various schooling shows around the area including hunters, jumpers and low level eventing. We started our first season at Boothill farm hunter schooling shows (which we later leased the facility from 2018-2021). Missy ended up with hunter trainer of the year and several year end placings for the riders. We started travelling to some fun shows and jumper shows as well. In 2014, 2015 and 2017 Missy was jumper trainer of the year at finally farm and we had several riders with year end placings. In 2016 we started competing at more C shows but also some schooling shows where Missy received the trainer appreciation award at Rosewood schooling jumper series and we had several riders with year end placings at Sedgefield Showgrounds and Rosewood. We continued to travel to various shows over the years and in 2017 Rheanna Broucksou (now beginner instructor at DTS) and Missy traveled to a few AA shows where Rheanna and her horse, Snap, received champion and reserve champion in the low child/adult jumpers. Missy's personal highlight came in 2019 when she received the Sportsmanship award at Sedgefield showgrounds. This was always her favorite show to go to and she spent numerous weekends at their shows. We made some great friends and had a show family at Sedgefield and she was honored to receive the sportsmanship award. In 2020 our season was very light and inconsistent with covid19 but we were happy to get to attend a few shows at Rosewood Farm and Sedgefield, including their last show at the Greensboro location- we enjoyed several years of wonderful shows and memories there. Showing provides an opportunity to bond with your horse, trainer and teammates. There are so many memories made and accomplishments throughout the year for each rider. We have an option for all disciplines and levels of rider to show, if they desire.
